FAQ

What does "bijoux" mean?
Bijoux means 'jewels' in French.  Bijoux in a Box enables you and your guests to make their own beautiful treasures.  Besides DIY jewelry, we also offer other DIY beaded projects.

What kind of projects do you offer?
We offer a wide range of DIY projects including necklaces, bracelets, earrings, key chains, zipper pulls/backpack clips, and wine accessories. Our projects vary in complexity and materials for very different looks. Most projects are strung but some projects for younger children use glue to attach the beads.

How are your projects different from the usual "beading kits" I see at the Big Box hobby or craft stores?
The usual big box DIY beading kit comes with enough materials for one project. You open the package, string the beads and you're done. That means that if you buy 10 kits for a party, for example, everyone's projects will look pretty much the same when they are done. At Bijoux in a Box, we focus on creativity and variety.  We pack our boxes with a wide variety of materials so that everyone can create a piece that is as unique as they are. There is no "right" way to do a project; the fun is in the endless ways to mix and match.  One kit makes four very different looking individual projects.

Why is Bijoux in a Box different from just buying a selection of beads and making my own project?
That's a great option also. However, many people find the prospect of selecting a coordinated selection beads at a bead/craft store and designing a project from scratch to be a little overwhelming.  They want the fun and creativity of DIY jewelry but could use a little help in project design and material selection. That's where Bijoux in a Box excels. Our DIY projects are designed so that you don't need special jewelry-making skills such as twisting wires or putting on clasps. They are perfect for kids and adults and offer a stress-free birthday activity.

What do your projects cost?
Our kits make 4 completed projects and the cost per kit ranges from $16 to $48. Each individual piece costs between $4 and $12.  Most kits are under $28. It's a great way to have a fun DIY party activity and an affordable party favor.

How difficult are the projects?
Each DIY project is rated 1 (Easy), 2 (Medium), or 3 (Difficult) for difficulty level. The #1 projects are appropriate for all ages including early elementary school ages. The #3 projects are best for older kids and adults.  The vast majority of our projects can be completed any age.

What is your return policy?
You can return unused projects at any time for a full refund.

I notice that your projects come in a four-pack. Can I just order one of something?
At this time, we are only offering the four-packs. That enables us to put in enough materials that everyone will end up with something unique. Remember, project "leftovers" make great gifts or rainy day activity.

What ages work the best for your projects?
All ages love them. Our projects are sorted by age and also have a difficulty rating but some of the simplest projects are enjoyed by older kids and adults too. We take care to change the bead palette for different ages to reflect evolving tastes.

How long do projects take?
That really depends on you and your guests. Some people finish in 10 minutes while others linger over their creations for an hour or more. In general, most projects will take about 30-45 minutes.
